Accounting & Payroll Specialist

Job Description: The Accounting & Payroll Specialist focuses on client accounting services including but not limited to bookkeeping and payroll. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding and proficiency in leveraging technology to optimize processes and decision making and has the confidence to work with minimal supervision and is eager to develop new skills and set achievable goals for our client accounting services. This position will give you the opportunity to work directly with clients and manage projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establish professional relationships and become a primary point of contact for payroll and bookkeeping related questions
- Process and document payrolls, ensuring every detail is spot-on, via Gusto
- Prepare monthly and quarterly bookkeeping via QuickBooks Online
- Prepare annual 1099 filings
- Prepare Sales & Use tax returns
- Migrating and training clients to Gusto Payroll and QuickBooks Online platforms
- Ensure all client deliverables are completed in an accurate, professional, and timely manner
- Research and deliver information to clients on new payroll tax laws
- Assist in client book review and cleanup prior to tax preparation
Skills Required:
- Confident technology skills and ability to learn new software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Aptitude for great customer service including patience and attentiveness
- Great organization, planning, and decision-making skills
- High standard of accuracy and attention to details
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a deadline driven environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, UltraTax, QuickBooks Online and Gusto
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of payroll and accounting experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with Gusto a plus
Schedule & Location:
- 40 hours per week, in Waconia office; Primary hours 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Decreased and flexible off-season hours, including half day Fridays
- Increased hours during busy season (January-April)

Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000+ Salary
